The hard times we’ve passed together

We’ll remember what we’ve learned
What experience has taught us

Times of love, joy, and excitement
Frustration and disappointment
Laughter and lightheartedness
Fondly, we will look back on


On the other side of our lives
Seeing who we use to be

Remembering what brought them there
How stories of life unfolded
Tracing back as far as can be
Even back to the beginning

Back to where I stand right now
When searching for a mate I am
In the middle of the story
Not knowing who the the person may be

They won’t spoil the surprise for me
But intently they look at me
Thanking me for the path I lead
And for the decisions I make

Here I am living my life
Creating my memories
I’ll cherish the rest of my life
I’m standing at the beginning

These decisions seem small right now
But they ripple out through time
Until as an old man I see
The affects they’ve had on me
