8 pm Saturday evening....
It was long that i had Sambhar rice...had been craving for a good sambhar rice, especially the combo- Rice+Sambhar+Papad..
And it was the usual lazyiness that made me think of dropping the idea at once...
with full determiniation i set out to make it own my own..
went to the near by kirana store and got Tamrind & Cocunut- these were the key thing required and since they were not in my kiotchen i was feeling more lazy to cook...
Finally it turned out to be a good dinner...with Sambhar of my choice :)
My recipe...for this Dinner
wash rice and put in rice cooker with the required ratio for water- I usually go with 1:2.5
while i cook sambhar and finish cooking...the rice would be ready...hence i chose to begin with rice..
Now for Sambhar-
take a cup of Toor dal and with 2 cups water and pinch of turmeric powder n salt in pressure cooker and put to cook..wait for about 3 whistles to blow..
Mean while chop vegitables-
Onions
Brinjal
drum sticks
cocumber-yellow one
-Veg-choice is yours..
now boil all except onions and keep aside.
Tamrind pulp- put raw tamrind in water and take out the pulp.-keep it aside
Grated Cocunut - grate some Cocunut and keep aside
Now the Toor Dal would have cooked by now...remove lid and put some water..and mash the dal.
Take a kadai and put a spoon or two of edible oil and fry the onions untill golden brown...
Add mashed dal into the kadai with a spoon of oil , sufficient water and let it boil.
after abt 3 min pour in the bolid vegitables and leave for boiling for abt 3 min.
now pour the tamrind pulp and stir well.
Take 3-4 spoons of Sambhar powder and the freshly grated Cocunut and pour it into the kadai...
Boil it for 3-4 minutes......at point you may add the salt as per your taste:)
Sambhar is ready to be served:)
The rice would have got cooked by now...so you may now spread a banana leaf and serve hot rice and sambhar...
